As of this newposts writing, Backlash is tonight. "What is Backlash?" you might ask. It's a wrestling event. I know "wrestling event" will get me probably a "LAWL URE GAI!!!11" comment. Backlash is in my hometown of Baltimore, and I have tickets( albeit extremely crappy ones...)
The real reason for this newpost is to discourage the wrestling critics, who say wrestling is pointless, that there's no entertainement value, that wrestling is fake, that the wrestlers are homosexuals.There are even some who would slur themselves so much to call wrestling a rednecks sport.
First of all, I'm sure most of my audience ( if I even get one. Hello? Anyone out there?) has watched a sporting event on a regular basis,. Why is that watched? I say 2 reasons. One, It's to give people something to talk about. The first thing I do after watch a good match is talk about it. What can I say? I like to analyze matches. I've been watching WWE for about 6 months, and I can give you a play-by-play better than the guy on TV. I watch wrestling the same reason some people watch football or soccer; so I can talk about it.
The second is a reason thats existed for 1000s of years. Me and every other person on this planet enjoys violence to some degree. The romans watched people get eaten by lions for fun. The english watched bears be killed by a pack of dogs for fun. And now the world watches people get smashed in the face with chairs for fun.
As for wrestlers being gay, this is unbelievably false. Most are married, and aren't trying to grab each others butt or anything during a match. This is the more retarded of opinions.
wrestling is not fake, it's scripted. There is a difference! Wrestlings really just a movie with a new one out every week.the fights as an action movies fights, the comedy is just as humorous as anything you'll see in theaters, and the wrestlers themselves are as excellent actors a s anyone on tv. Heck, many hit movies starred wrestlers! Hulk Hogan was in one of the Rocky's, Stone Cold Steve Austin was in "The Condemned", The Rock has been in dozens of hits. Mick Foley will be in the upcoming Anamorph.
As for wrestling being a redneck sport, this is also untrue. Whether wrestling is in georgia or pennsylvania, Canada or Japan, the crowd is sold out.
I'm not saying you have to like wrestling. I'm saying give iut a chance. Have you ecer wanted to watchh a never ending movie? Now here's your chance. Basically, what I'm saying is: Don't knock iot till you try it.
